Presented by practicing nurse leaders with significant clinical education experience, this session offers attendees an opportunity to better understand and leverage the power of peer support for new nurse graduates as they transition into practice. 

  • This presentation will describe two modalities of peer support used simultaneously across a multi-site program.
  • Strategies for engagement will be discussed, including the use of an electronic recruitment tool to enlist seasoned RNs to support new graduate nurses during a time of rapid program growth.
  • Members and their guests are welcome. NWONL and ACNL members may earn CE credit for attendance and post session survey completion. CE is included as part of membership.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define two strategies for peer support in a transition to practice program.
  2. Demonstrate avenues to expand peer support to meet growing workforce demand.
  3. Discuss a strategy to recruit volunteers across a multisite organization.

Jessica Tolzman, MSN, RN, PCCN is the RN Residency & Academics Relations Program Director at Legacy Health. With a clinical background in medical-surgical nursing and progressive cardiac care, Jessica has 12 years of professional nursing experience with advancing leadership roles including preceptor, educator, stroke coordinator and clinical practice specialist. She has led Legacy's coach and mentor programs and enjoys helping others grow in the profession of nursing. Jessica has a prior degree in music and a background in wealth management and enjoys taking a creative, solutions-oriented approach to programming and problem-solving. Outside of work she enjoys travelling around the PNW with her spouse and two dogs in a campervan for all kinds of outdoor adventures!
