This presentation guides participants through the development of a low-cost leadership development program (LDP) founded on nurse leader competencies using micro didactic learning, self-reflection, and peer learning communities to decrease nurse manager (NM) turnover intention. Program topics and learning activity examples will be shared. Review of pre-and post-program data of leader efficacy, burnout, and NM turnover retention will be reviewed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the connection between leader efficacy, nurse manager burnout, and nurse manager retention.
  • Apply a triad learning approach to build a leadership development program to retain nurse managers.

I am an adaptive and human-centered nurse executive with a demonstrated history of leading in the inpatient acute, critical care, maternal child, and ambulatory settings. I am skilled in the development of high-functioning teams, building collaborative relationships, and applying authentic and transformational leadership to achieve departmental and organizational goals. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Maryland, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Transformative Systems Leadership from Rush University. I lead others with authenticity and vulnerability, and bring optimism and compassion to the care I provide patients, families, and teams.
