NWONL - Update from the Executive Director
Posted 4 months ago
Conference updates:
We ended April with the final details ironed out for the May Annual Conference plus we are now SOLD OUT! The Development Commission was instrumental in this and we could not do this without their contributions and guidance. On the topic of conferences, the NWONL Board of Directors met (mid-April) and discussed plans for the rest of the year including a possible Academic / Practice Summit in the fall (more to come on that).
Monthly and quarterly sessions:
Two Regional Councils met in April and their attendance continues to grow (connect with your regional council HERE). Of note, our CNO/Dean Rounding meetings will take a break in May and start again in June likely with a refresh in name, time, cadence and content in our efforts to stay truly valuable to our regional leaders. The Leadership Commission had updates from OCN, WCN and State Boards of Nursing from AK, WA and OR. They continue to work Nurse Wellness programs, responding and supporting to recent staffing law changes, navigating nurse compact work and preparing for new Federal law changes around minimum RN staffing for long term care facilities. Finally, the monthly NWONL Education Session was Part 2 of the Healthy Work Environment showcasing how the HWE Standards from AACN decrease burnout, improve engagement and lower turnover.
In short, April was VERY busy. I'm looking forward to seeing many of you in a less that two weeks over in Seattle at the Conference!
Respectfully,
Cindi
