NWONL 2024 Conference Update: Inspiration to attend, message from the Executive Director
Posted over 1 year ago
I always appreciate the opportunity to attend a conference and come away with fresh inspiration, hope and plenty of new and rekindled connections with colleagues. Last week, I attended the AONL annual conference and it offered just that. In that spirit, as we head to our own regional conference in Seattle in May, I'm excited to be sharing more of those experiences with my fellow NWONL members and regional nursing leadership.
Coming off the AONL conference, I observed emerging themes for nurse leaders include the vital ongoing need to be able to innovate, build balance and health back into the work of nursing and eliminate stale, old-way thinking. Additionally we (nursing) are really starting to see and feel the effects of long-term micro-stressors in the delivery of healthcare compounded by social determinants of work-life (childcare benefits, job flexibility, transportation, education, healthcare) that have dramatically impacted an entire generation of nurses.
As Nurse Leaders we have the responsibility to give voice, action and influence to every practice space where the work of nursing takes place. Be that in the board room, academics, bedside, advanced practice or in leadership roles. With this in mind, we will continue creative and inspiring thought leadership at our conference next month. Hope to see you all there!
Respectfully,
Cindi
